Tourism is an important part of the Indonesian economy and an important source of job creation. This is why the Indonesian government has prioritised tourism as one of the main pillars of the country’s economic growth potential. The tourist destination of Lombok benefits from this in particular. However, the Indonesian vocational education and training system will also benefit in particular by strengthening a network of educational institutions under the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries of the Republic of Indonesia (MoTCE).
As a consortium partner of Swisscontact, SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern plays an active role in supporting the Local Office for Sustainable Tourism Education (STED), which is part of the Politeknik Pariwisata Lombok Tourism and Hotel Management School. The approach adopted by STED is based on the best practice of the Swiss dual education system, which SHL has adapted to the local context.
Creation of competitive and sustainable destinations and training of skilled workers, which will contribute significantly to the economic, environmental and social sustainability of the tourism sector in Lombok.
