Extracurricular activities are an essential aspect of a well-rounded education. These activities offer students the opportunity to explore their interests and passions outside of the classroom, develop new skills, and make meaningful connections with their peers. Participating in extracurricular activities can also help students build confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of community. Additionally, involvement in extracurricular activities can boost a student's resume, showing that they are dedicated individuals.
So, what's on at SHL? These are just a few of the many ways our students can get involved:
Students who are looking for an extra challenge get the opportunity to take part in various international competitions - such as the European Mise en Place Cup or the UNWTO Students League Switzerland - and to demonstrate their skills.
SHL students can apply to be a Member of the HSMAI Student Council, which is a student driven initiative that puts students’ needs at the centre of its operations. It is the first hospitality student council across the borders of hotel business schools & universities.
In this role, students are official representatives of SHL. Depending on their interests and time availability, they can take part in a wide range of SHL marketing activities. In addition, through digital 1:1 communication, they provide potential future students with an authentic insight into student life at SHL.
We also provide activities for a healthier study-life balance. Our students can benefit from mental training workshops. In addition, the university sports programme of HSLU - our partner university - offers a wide range of sport programmes for our BSc Students: Countless disciplines and a wide range of trainings, courses, camps and events are available!
